When doing an engine rebuild, or if you are replacing the head gasket you'll need new head bolts. You can either get OEM head bolts that can only be used once, or you can use ARP head studs, which can be reused multiple times, and have higher strength than OEM bolts. Sounds like ARP head studs are the ones to go with, right?

Furthermore, with OEM bolts, because you are turning a whole bolt into the block versus the stud system just turning a nut on the stud, you get better torque accuracy to make sure to have the best seal possible.

These bolts are made from 8740 alloy- which is a nickel chrome moly steel , and have a 200,000 psi tensile strength.

These fit:

  • 2003-2005 Dodge SRT-4
  • 1995-2005 Dodge Stratus/Breeze/Caravan
  • 2001-2010 Chrysler PT non turbo and GT Cruiser turbo
  • Torque Specs: 85 Ft Lbs total in three equal steps with ARP Ultra Torque fastener lubricant (28 Ft Lbs, 56 Ft Lbs, 85 Ft Lbs). Read the installation instructions provided in each box, or go to arpinstructions.com if you have lost yours.

You use an allen key to get the bolts tightened initially, install the head on the studs, then use a 12 point socket to tighten down the caps on the studs.
