Its getting difficult to find 2000-2005 Neon/SRT-4 OEM dash pads that are not cracked and falling apart. So if you have a second gen Neon or Neon SRT-4 that you are proud of, this is likely a concern of yours like it is for us.
After looking into this for a while, we were able to find a company that makes a dash cover that installs over top of your OEM dash pad. It has a nice texture to it that matches the OEM dash pad, and we've been able to get a color that matches almost perfectly to the OEM color.
Even if you have large holes or cracks in your OEM dash pad, as long as the majority of it is solid, then this will mount over top of it, and make your dash look perfect again. Plus, after installation you can still remove this/OEM dash pad like before.
We have taken photos of the actual dash cover installed into our 2005 Dodge Neon SRT-4 ACR.
Below is text of how we installed a dash cover into our 1998 Neon R/T.
During the install process we removed the OEM dash pad, and we found several clips that were broken off the dash pad and stuck in the dash. We used the supplied silicone adhesive to glue the broken clips back onto the dash pad, and then we cleaned the OEM dash pad and aftermarket dash cover with ammonia based window cleaner. Next we ran a bead of silicone around the outer perimeter, around the tweeter holes, and defroster vents. Then we installed the cover onto the OEM dash pad, and laid out microfiber towels and some weights on the dash to hold it down while the silicone dries. About 8 hours are needed for the silicone to fully cure and lock the OEM dash pad to the new Aftermarket dash cover.
Please note that if your tweeter, or defrost grille is missing from your existing dash, it will be open after installing this cover.
