Model Number: 221296-9799DOHC

Years ago, the Mopar ECU was the only option for 97-99 Neon owners who wanted to increase their Neon's performance. It was then discontinued by Mopar around 2010.

Fast forward a few years, and there has been no option for Neon owners, but Kevin at Syked Tuning has released a flash for ECUs that has a similar increase in power and torque compared to the old Mopar Performance ECUs.

Because new ECUs are no longer available from Chrysler, these ECUs start as a used OEM ECUs that are re-flashed with the Syked tune, and have the following benefits:

  • Gain 7-10 hp peak at the wheels, or even more if your car is highly modified.
  • Increased Rev Limiter to 7800 rpms
  • Improved 93 Octane Fuel Maps & Increased Timing
  • Improved Throttle Response, Increased HP & Torque
  • No Purge System Monitoring
  • No EGR Valve Monitoring
  • No Speed Limiter

Designed for off road use only

This item is purchased outright. There is no core charge, and you do not need to return your OEM ECU.

Note: This ECU can also be used with 2.4L Swapped Neons, but must be repinned to do so.

  • All Syked ECUs are cleaned with a wire brush and compressed air.
  • We offer below an option for Connector Condition, what this means, is that we are offering ECU's with damaged electrical connectors for a discount. These ECU's are still perfectly functioning, however they are not in perfect condition. Please check out the last photo in the photo section to see an example of a broken connector ecu that we are offering for a discount.

I did a 2.4 swap to my 98, I swapped the cam sensor pin, what ecu would i need 2.4 or the 2.0
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

If you have done any ignition coil wiring, cam sensor, fuel injector swap then you use the 2.0 pcm. If you have not done any wiring swap at all then get the bolt in 2.4 pcm.

will these work on a 1997 Neon automatic trans
      1 Answer
      • customer service rep

Its better to just purchase the automatic transmission Neon flash that we offer. However, if you insist on using the manual transmission ecu, your torque lockup convertor will not function and you'll lose gas mileage. Some Neon owners have found a way to wire up a toggle switch and wiring to the pcm to activate the lockup convertor to improve gas mileage at highway speeds though, for more information on that search on neons.org

Can I send you my pcm to be flashed instead of buying one outright?
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

If you send a pcm to us we can flash it for you instead. Contact us by phone to discuss.

will this work on RHD neons?
      1 Answer
      • customer service rep

If you have a 2.0 liter engine, then it should work. We have no way to guarantee, or confirm though as we all have LHD Neons over here of course.

can these ecu's work on the non turbo talon\eclipse
      1 Answer
      • customer service rep

We have never tested these on an Eclipse and do not have access to a 420A motor Eclipse to test it on. We can not recommend using this in a Eclipse.
    • john
we race a non turbo 420 A 5 spd. 97 eclipse on a 1/4 mile oval. will this work for me, thanks for your time.
      1 Answer
      • customer service rep

We're not sure if this pcm will work on a NA Eclipse.

Would this computer support running E85. or is it programmable to run E85.
      1 Answer
      • customer service rep

This pcm is designed to run with regular 93 octane gas. It will still run on E85, but its not a tune exclusively made for E85.

Does the milage and vin need programmed in?
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

Nope! Buy pcm, install it, drive! Its that simple.
    • Will
Will this PCM work with 2001 2.4 modified with a stock neon srt-4 turbo system.
      1 Answer
      • customer service rep

This pcm is designed for non turbo use. If you were to use this pcm with a turbo you'd have a much leaner mixture, and advanced timing which wont work well with a turbo.
    • Barry Dawkins
If I have this ECU with my 2.4 and decide to turbo it down the road, can I have someone reflash it for a turbo setup?
      1 Answer
      • customer service rep

This pcm is not designed around turbo use, its a normally aspirated pcm tune. For your turbo use you should use a stock pcm, or some other sort of piggyback to detune the stock pcm.

Does the ECU eliminate the downstream o2 sensor signal?
      1 Answer
      • customer service rep

        Yes.
    • Mauricio G
Does this ECU work for both sohc and dohc?
      1 Answer
      • customer service rep

Yes, this pcm is interchangeable with sohc and dohc engines.

hello there. i have a coupe neon with the DOHC 2.0L with most to all of your bolt ons. I am looking at getting your complete 12.0:1 bottom end kit, as well as your complete head kit with the stage 3 cams.
will this ecu be a ok to good option to run this kind of engine?
      thanks for your time
      Brad
      1 Answer
      • customer service rep

You'll be fine with this pcm and higher compression. However, with that high if a compression you'll need more fuel, and better octane fuel. You'll need race fuel, in addition to larger injectors and regulator. If you don't want to have to use race fuel, get the 10.5:1 Pistons for a more street friendly motor.

      What are the cleaning services
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

These are used pcms, and sometimes they can be rusty, or have oxidation. We offer a cleaning service for those customers wanting a better looking pcm, and no service for those of you that want a stock, old looking pcm.
    • Trevor Brunette
When you do the cleaning service do you just clean it to raw metal or is it painted? and also if i were to order it would i be able to get the sticker on the side not stuck on the pcm? thanks
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

When the cleaning service is ordered, we remove the backing plate, clean the pcm case really well, and paint it. Please see our photos showing what a normal Syked pcm looks like and then a cleaning service Syked pcm.

I have a larger throttle body, and an upgraded msd ignition coil, no turbo or charger. Would I benefit from this?
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

This pcm is great for any engine that is normally aspirated, whether it be stock, or with bolt on parts, or even with cams, pistons, etc. If you want more power from your engine and you want a higher rpm limit, this is for you!
    • Jonathan Eme
I have a 1995 neon, what are my options? I notice it's the only year not listed...
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

We offer a 1995 Neon ecu flash, please type in 1995 ECU into the search bar.

With your upgrade can i install a cam later on without any problems or further upgrades. And what hp.and trq. Increases can I except with just a header and cold air, the rest stock sohc
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

You can install this on a stock Neon, or with a Neon with cams, head work, pistons, etc. Whatever you have, this will work great. The more mods you have, the more power it will help you create.
    • Robert
It says no EGR monitoring, so does that mean I can just use the EGR block off plates or do I still need he resistor to keep the CEL away?
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

When it says no EGR monitoring, it means it doesnt monitor the EGR. This means you can disconnect the EGR system and not have a check engine light.

If I have a 2 door base model 5 speed car with nothing done to it besides a slightly re-geared trans and a bigger throttle body would this work on my car or would it be too aggressive? Also, would it effect my mpg much?
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

This pcm is great for any engine that is normally aspirated, whether it be stock, or with bolt on parts, or even with cams, pistons, etc. If you want more power from your engine and you want a higher rpm limit, this is for you!

As far as gas mileage goes, there is not much of a change unless you start driving more aggressively.

I have a 98 Dodge neon dohc 5 speed race car with performance plugs and wires we race against eco tecs will this pcm help with keeping up with them we race a 3/8 mile dirt track
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

We sell tons of these to dirt/oval track racers. If you want an additional 7-10 peak horsepower, or more than 15 horsepower at redline, AND an additional 600 rpms of power band, these are VERY worthwhile.
    • Deonte Crawford
I bought a 97-99 Skyed ECU is there any way I can get this to work with my new 96 Neon coupe
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

You can use a 97-99 Neon pcm in a 1996, however you'd have to wire in a switch of some sort to control the fans. The 1996 has a relay on the frame rail that controls the fans, and the 1997-1999 has a controller in the pcm to control the fans. If you install this pcm in a 96 you'll need some sort of manual fan switch, or wire in some sort of controller because it will no longer be automatically controlled.

Will this work on a 2000 neon
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

This is a difficult question to answer.

Ok, Syked makes a 2000 Neon computer flash but we do not offer it. You can contact them directly for that.

If your 2000-2002 Neon is a race car and you only want the car to run, you can install this computer, change some pins around and have it work. The gauges most likely wont work.

The best option is to get a 97-99 Neon wiring harness, dash harness and instrument cluster, and use a 97-99 Neon computer to run your 2000-2002 Neon. Doing so gives you more options as far as pcms go, and 97-99 Neon pcms are more readily available.

In the description it mentions that there is no purge system monitoring. Do you mean no evaporative emissions monitoring? What exactly does "no purge system monitoring" mean?
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

Evap/Purge system is the system of vacuum hoses and solenoids on the passenger side of the car that takes the fuel vapors and runs them through a carbon canister under the bumper. Most Neon owners want to remove this system and if you do that, you'll get a check engine light. Whereas with this pcm that does not monitor that function, you will not get a check engine light for that.

Wiyh this ecm the oxygen sensor is definitely still needs to be hooked up correct.
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

Yes, you need to be using the upstream o2 sensor, so the ecu can determine how rich/lean the engine is running. The downstream o2 sensor is not important, as its only monitoring the catalytic converter efficiency.
    • Nicholas Towner
Do you offer pcm without a Rev limit?
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

We do not offer a 97-99 Neon ECU without a rev limit.
