Add this part along with one of our lightweight crank pulleys and you can save a whopping 4 lbs off of the rotating mass of the engine. That may not sound like much, but when you reduce the weight of rotating mass off the engine, the engine responds quicker, and makes the turbo/rpms build up faster!

This pulley is easily removed, only three bolts hold it in place to the water pump. The OEM pulley is a solid metal disc that drives the water pump off of the serpentine belt. The MPx pulley is a lightweight aluminum pulley with lightening holes to reduce weight. We've been able to get about a 60% weight reduction with this pulley.

Now you may be asking yourself- whats the point of a lightweight water pump pulley? Easy, its weight savings. Any weight you can take off of the engine's rotating mass, makes the engine respond faster, be more peppy, and fun to drive. Think about it like this - if you were to go for a run in the park with some heavy boots, you could do it, but it will require more energy. Whereas with lightweight running shoes you can build speed quicker, and burn less energy. It's the same philosophy. Reducing weight off of the spinning pulleys on the engine helps! This pulley is the same diameter as the stock pulley so you will not need to change the belt size.

Lightweight pulleys will allow you to recover some horsepower, but what they really gain, is a lowered rotating mass. Any part of the engine that spins (pistons, crank, rods, pulleys, driveshafts) all have a direct impact on acceleration. The heavier the items are, the slower acceleration will be. Once you have a lower rotating mass, your engine will respond faster, and the car will be able to accelerate better.
