Hondata Intake manifold Heatshield Gasket for 2.4 Turbo 2003-2005 Neon SRT-4 / 2003-2007 PT Cruiser 2.4 Turbo.

The Hondata heat shield gasket is a replacement intake manifold gasket made from special high temperature plastic, designed to insulate the intake manifold from the cylinder head.

The Hondata heat shield has been shown to reduce the intake air temperature significantly by insulating the intake manifold from heat emanating off the cylinder head.

Fact: For every ten degrees fahrenheit rise in intake temperature, air density drops 1%.The hotter the air, the less fuel the computer injects to compensate for reduced oxygen.

Around town, testing has shown an average drop of around 15 degrees Fahrenheit which is good for around 3 percent power increase. In certain conditions a 45 degrees F drop has been measured.

This piece is straightforward to install. You just need a 10mm, or 13mm socket, depending on which vehicle your installing it on, a socket driver, and extension, and about 1.5 - 2 hours to take the intake manifold off, remove the factory gasket, install the Hondata gasket, and torque down the intake manifold!

When tightening your intake manifold back to the head, the factory service manual recommends you torque the intake manifold bolts to 17 ft lbs. You must be careful when installing this gasket, because the gasket will squish when being tightened, and it will not bottom out like a normal gasket. We have had some customers break the ear off of the manifold due to over-tightening the bolts. We recommend just hand tightening it and don't go nuts.

NOTE2: You reuse your factory intake manifold bolts. You do NOT need new bolts or different bolts to install this.
