Fresh air flows through a duct on the driver side into the airbox mounted on top of the engine. From there, it is directed through a tube that feeds directly into the turbo. We studied the intake system on the Hornet 2.0 Turbo engine and we found that the front duct and factory air box was a pretty decent design. However, there was room for improvement with the duct between the airbox and turbo.
When we examined the duct between the airbox and turbo we noticed several things that could be improved for faster turbo spool up and more power. We noticed that there was effectively a muffler inside the intake duct to reduce turbo noise, and several other things that would cause turbulence, and drag on the air getting sucked in by the turbo. Surprisingly, with the MPx High flow air duct, we cant hear a difference now that we have no more silencer.

One benefit to not replacing the whole intake system with a shiny aluminum tube and big open air filter, is that the factory air box has lots of traps to stop dust, and water from entering the engine. If we improve on the air intake duct after the airbox, then the factory airbox is still performing well at stopping dust, debris and water.

Comments: Easy to install, great modification. No check Engine. You can really feel the difference in acceleration.
In testing, we have noticed our will respond quicker when we accelerate. The car also feels noticeably stronger as well. We estimate about a 12-14 horsepower gain.
