MPx 60mm Throttle Body, 95-99 Neon
Model Number: 221111-8
This part is designed to fit the manual transmission Neon/Eclipse only. The automatic throttle linkage is designed differently and is not compatible with this manual transmission Neon/Eclipse throttle body.
If you own a 1995-1999 Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler Neon or 1995-1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse non turbo and you want to improve the throttle response and power of your car, you've found the right part!
INFO ON THE FACTORY THROTTLE BODY
The factory Neon/Eclipse NA throttle body is designed with a small 52mm bore that tapers down to 49mm. This is great for when your driving around in stop and go traffic, but is not what you want if you're a performance driver, or hardcore racer.
BENEFITS OF THE MPX THROTTLE BODY
The MPx throttle body has a 60mm inner bore, which flows close to 25% more air due to its straight through design. It improves throttle response, and because it flows more air it creates more power. Most Neon/Eclipse NA owners have gained a solid 7-9 hp with this one part.
CONSTRUCTION OF THE MPX THROTTLE BODY
The MPx throttle body is made in the USA from billet aluminum from scratch. It has a stainless steel dual sided throttle shaft for maximum strength. The throttle body is also finished with a anodized clear hard coat which protects the throttle body from oil, grease, dirt and chemicals. The MPx throttle body also features a design that allows you to change the throttle pedal feel from medium to super firm feel by means of switching the location of the throttle spring.
EASE OF INSTALLATION
The MPx throttle body was designed so that the factory throttle linkage, and sensors could easily swap over onto it. There is no modification needed to the throttle body in order to install. The factory opening of the intake manifold is 55mm, so this throttle body will bolt on, and function just fine, however we recommend you port match the intake manifold to match the throttle body for maximum performance gain.
- The oem throttle position sensor and idle air control sensor work perfectly with this throttle body.
- There is a vacuum port for the evap system, and this functions perfectly, with no check engine lights after installation.
- No tune is needed after installation, your Neon/Eclipse will relearn and modify its tune.
- This only works on the manual transmission car, it does not work on automatic transmission Neons/Eclipses.
- This works fine with the factory cruise control system.
- This will not work on 2000-2005 Dodge/Plymouth Neons or 2003-2005 Dodge SRT-4's.
Note to customers who have removed their vehicle's interior: Removing the carpet and sound deadening from the 95-99 Neon will allow for additional pedal travel (beyond 100% throttle opening). Over time this will weaken, and eventually break, the throttle linkage. In order to prevent this, we recommend removing the air intake, and having someone look down into the throttle body as you test fit different shims under the gas pedal, ensuring that the pedal does not travel beyond 100%.
