This kit ships free within the continental USA!
For those of you Hornet owners that don't have the Brembo brakes from the factory but want an upgrade, this is for you.
We have created this kit that uses Wilwood 6 piston brake calipers, 13 inch rotors, custom brake lines, adapters, hardware. The OEM braking system uses a single piston caliper and this kit utilizes a 6 piston system meaning we have significantly more braking force. What this means, is that you have to exert less force on the brake pedal to slow the car.
We offer two options for calipers - either gloss black, or gloss red. We're using Wilwood (Made in America) calipers because they are one of the largest aftermarket brake suppliers, and are easy to get replacement parts for. Because of the popularity of the Wilwood calipers, there are lots of options for different brake pads if you want to try out more aggressive compound pads later. Some big brake kits in the aftermarket can be difficult to get replacement parts for, and that is one important thing to keep in mind - how easy it is to get replacement parts!
We offer two options for the rotors - either smooth rotors, or drilled rotors. Both rotors have a coating that keeps the areas that the brake pad does not contact from rusting.
This kit comes with two new stainless steel braided brake lines to connect to the calipers. The stainless steel lines replace the OEM rubber lines and are superior in terms of high temperatures from hard braking and expand less with heat. This means you get a more solid, more responsive brake feel compared to factory.
We are using supremely strong 4140 Alloy steel for our Caliper brackets. These brackets are manufactured here in the USA with the strongest steel we could source and then anodized black for superior strength and durability. We are not using mild steel or aluminum for our caliper brackets!
One last benefit of this kit, is that we shave a surprising amount of weight with the advanced Wilwood calipers over the factory calipers! We save 6 lbs of weight per side compared to the factory rotor/caliper assemblies (total of 12 lbs).
Before someone asks if we are offering a rear Wilwood brake kit, the answer is no. Because the Hornet uses electric rear parking brakes, making any sort of upgrade for the rear would most likely disable the parking brake. Therefore, we recommend you do a brake pad upgrade in the rear and paint the caliper to match the front.
