The 2.0 turbo motor makes power by compressing incoming air with fuel and then igniting it via the four ignition coils and spark plugs. The OEM coils perform the basic function of ignition but there is lots of room for improvement. That's why we made our own performance coil packs for the 2.0 Turbo Dodge Hornet and 2.0 Turbo Jeep Compass.

The oem coils fire 25,000 - 35,000 volts through the spark plug to create a spark to ignite the gas and air mixture in the combustion chamber. The stock coil has a thin wire that is 22 gauge that transfers power from the coil to spark plug. Power from the coil is transferred by the wire that essentially lays on top of the spark plug. This works, but could use some improvement.

Its amazing to think so much power is going through such a tiny conductor wire on the oem coils. Our performance coils use a 6 gauge stainless steel power cable to transfer more power to the spark plug. Also of note, is that instead of the OEM wire laying on top of the spark plug, we use a full 360 degree lock ring connector that locks on top of the spark plug. This locking 360 degree connector gives a far superior transfer of current to the spark plug compared to the OEM thin wire laying on top of the spark plug.
