Hondata Intake Manifold Heatshield Gasket for 03-05 Neon SRT-4 / 03-07 PT Cruiser GT.

The Hondata heat shield gasket is a replacement intake manifold gasket made from special high temperature plastic, designed to insulate the intake manifold from the cylinder head.

The Hondata heat shield, has been shown in studies to reduce the intake air temperature significantly by insulating the intake manifold from heat emanating off the cylinder head. The resulting lower temperatures, has created additional horsepower by as much as 5%.

Fact: For every ten degrees F rise in intake temperature, air density drops 1%. The hotter the air, the less fuel the computer injects to compensate for reduced oxygen.

Around town, testing has shown an average drop of around 15 degrees F which is good for around 3 percent power increase. In certain conditions a 45 degrees F drop has been measured.

This piece is straightforward to install. You just need a 10mm, or 13mm socket, depending on which vehicle your installing it on, a socket driver, and extension, and about 1.5 - 2 hours to take the intake manifold off, remove the factory gasket, install the Hondata gasket, and torque down the intake manifold!

If you'd like to reduce the temperature of air coming into your motor, and maximize the power your cars making, you need this piece !

When tightening your intake manifold back to the head, the factory service manual recommends you torque the intake manifold bolts to 17 ft lbs.

NOTE: You reuse your factory intake manifold bolts. You do NOT need new bolts or different bolts to install this.

The port sizes of this gasket are about 20-25% larger than the ports on the head and intake manifold.

This is the gasket or do I need a gasket in addition to this?

This is the gasket, this is all you need to install it in between your intake manifold and cylinder head. Nothing else needed.

What are the torque specs for this part?

The factory intake manifold bolts are to be torqued to 200 inch lbs with the factory intake manifold gasket. Hondata does not have torque specs however. Be careful with the outer ends of the intake manifold though, because the flexible Hondata material can allow the ears to flex and in some rare cases allow the ears to break off. You can have the manifold welded back together if that happens, but its best to just make sure its snug so you don't have that happen in the first place.
