Model Number: 220178-BALL-SS

If you own a 95-05 Neon or 03-05 Neon SRT-4 with manual transmission, and are replacing your clutch, we recommend also replacing the clutch pivot fork and pivot ball.

The clutch pivot fork pivots on the pivot ball (makes sense, right?). When you push down on the clutch, the master cylinder and slave cylinder extend to push the fork and bearing against the clutch to disengage the clutch. This disengages the power from the engine to the transmission and axles.

We sell the clutch pivot fork separately, be sure to add both to your shopping cart!

Please note: the OEM clutch pivot ball has straight threads, whereas this has spiral threads. This is so that it will not fit loosely in the old OEM threads, and will instead cut its own threads to be more secure and not fall out or cause issues.

Is there a benefit to doing the steel pivot ball vs the stock Mopar OEM pivot ball? Or is it just cosmetic?
      1 Answer
      • Customer Service Rep

We have not found there to be any issues with the Mopar one, it seems to work great with every clutch we have ever tested. However, its design, a plastic cap pressed onto a steel stud doesn't seem as solid as a Chromoly steel one piece pivot ball. So, if you have a clutch that requires more effort to depress, or if you are going to be driving the car hard, it may be best to just get the Chromoly pivot ball. That way you know you'll have a solid pivot you wont have to worry about.

Is this standard oem size or is oversize? (the part which screws into the transmission)

      • Customer Service Rep

The OEM pivot ball is .425 inch, the SRT4G chromoly ball is .428 so its slightly larger, also it has spiral cut grooves instead of straight so it can be secure.

So if this has spiraled threads how are we supposed to install it in a slot that has straight threads ? Do we hammer it in ?
