Crane Cams Camshafts, 03-05 Neon SRT-4 / 03-07 PT Cruiser GT

Attention: Crane has closed down and we have no more cams left! Sorry! Please check our Crower listings for cams that are available and in stock.

These camshafts start out as billet cores, are ground down, and polished to each camshaft spec sheet. Crane offers a total of 5 grinds for the DOHC Neon, of which we stock. These five grinds will work well for 98% of all DOHC owners. These cams will also work on the 01-10 PT Cruiser 2.4L as well.

The five grinds we offer are as follows.

  • #10 Grind - (Discontinued) Good idle, daily usage, good mid range HP, performance upgrade for stock engine, aftermarket intake / exhaust and ECM advised. 1000-6500 Rpm Power Range
  • #12 Grind - (Discontinued) Good idle, performance usage, street, drag race, intended for use with nitrous, aftermarket intake / exhaust and ECM advised. 1500-6800 Rpm Power Range
  • #14 Grind - (Discontinued) Good idle, performance usage, for use with turbo, good upper RPM HP, intercooler advised, aftermarket intake / low restriction exhaust required. 1500-6800 Rpm power range
  • #16 Grind - (Discontinued) Fair idle, performance usage, drag race, good mid and upper RPM HP, high flowing cylinder head/intake/exhaust and aftermarket ECM advised. 2000-7200 Rpm power range
  • #18 Grind - (Discontinued) Performance usage, drag race, good upper RPM HP, high flowing cylinder head / intake / large exhaust advised, 12.0+ minimum compression ratio and aftermarket ECM required. 2500-7500 Rpm power range

Note: You must use performance valve springs with these camshafts. If you do not, your factory valve springs may fail, causing catastrophic damage if the valves were to drop and contact the pistons. It is not worth the risk! Purchase performance valve springs. They're not very expensive.

Will a #10 with the crane valve springs work for my 06 Wrangler 2.4l since it is the same engine just with more compression and no turbo? Rebuilding my engine and would like to know if valve will hit piston.

From what we have read, your Wrangler uses the same EDZ motor as the Neon SRT4 and PT Cruiser. So, yes, it appears that it will work with your Wrangler.

Ok thanks, since I offroad every weekend, and lower end torque is key, will this boost low end torque any or mostly mid range like your site says?

The lower end camshaft choices will improve torque/hp, but the higher end camshafts will improve top end at the sacrifice of the bottom end. So, if you get a camshaft get a lower model cam, ie, stage 1 to not lose bottom end power.

I'm close to pulling the trigger on these cams, even though my motor isn't turbo do you have a possible rough estimate of how much power I could get?

Camshafts will normally add as little as 7-8 to as much as 25 wheel hp, and they do this by shifting more power to the top end.
