Back when the Caliber SRT-4 came out, we were a little disappointed that it came from the factory with a single exit muffler/tip when the Neon SRT-4, its predecessor had a dual exit exhaust.

So, we set about working on a dual exit exhaust for the 2008-2009 Caliber SRT-4. When we were working under the car we found that the factory B pipe, which went from the downpipe to the rear muffler was already 3 inch, and fairly straight. There wasn't much room for improvement, so instead of designing a whole catback we designed a rear muffler section, which saves cost.

Design
We started the design with a T304 stainless steel straight through, turbo style muffler which has very high temp fiberglass packing to quieten down the exhaust tone, and eliminate any raspiness. This style of muffler allows for a quieter tone than a single exit muffler because the exhaust gases spend more time inside the muffler, therefore reducing the sound more. The rest of the piping and tips are also T304 stainless steel which is very durable, strong and good looking.

Installation
Installation is straightforward, two factory hangers are used, and we attach on another hanger onto the frame (no drilling required!) to make sure the exhaust is solid. You simply cut the factory piping (we provide a template!) and then slip the factory piping over this muffler. We provide a clamp, but we highly recommend you weld the exhaust to make it super solid and leak proof. We also provide instructions and a template showing where to cut the rear valance to make room for the new tip on the drivers side. Don't worry, its easy!

Sound
Sound quality is nice, it has a deep tone, and is not obnoxiously loud. You can drive on the highway without going crazy from drone! You'll enjoy the sporty tone and great looks this exhaust will give your Caliber SRT4!

  • We use a hand rolled muffler for a cleaner look with no pinch seams.
  • This second revision uses a larger muffler for a smoother sound with less raspiness.
  • The new muffler design uses flanges on the tips to allow for smaller packaging, saving nearly $70 in shipping costs as the old box was massive!
  • Now using a 3 inch inlet and two 2.5 piping to keep the velocity high out of the exhaust vs 3 inch in and dual 3 inch pipes out.

Will this rear section fit/attach if I have the magnaflow exhaust system?

It most likely wont be a direct bolt on, as this was designed to work with the factory exhaust. However, any good local muffler shop near you can install this, and install/bend piping to make this work with the Magnaflow.

Hi I have the mpx single exit I lov the sound will dual make same or less sound? I want the looks of dual and sound of a single thanks.

The single exit exhaust has a lot less muffler packing and is designed for a louder, sportier tone. The dual exit has much more internal baffling and is a quieter, but still sporty sound.

i am looking for a new exhaust, but i am looking for something that will sound like the neon srt4, so which one sounds more like that, the single or dual exit ?

This dual exit exhaust has more muffler packing, and therefore is quieter than the single exit. The single exit is louder, and more aggressive, its probably the one you are looking for.

I want the louder sportier sound like you say the single exit has, but I want the dual exit. Is there an option to change the muffler?

    • Customer Service Rep

We cannot change the muffler on the dual exit exhaust.

With some slight modifications would I be able to install this on my 09 Caliber sxt fwd?
    1 Answer
    • Customer Service Rep

Most likely not. Furthermore, the Caliber SXT FWD most likely has a 2.25 inch exhaust not a 3 inch, and this exhaust is optimized for a turbo Caliber so the sound would be very loud and raspy for a non turbo car installation. It was designed for the Caliber SRT4 and we recommend only installing it on the CSRT4.

Is it louder then the stock?

Yes this muffler as well as the single exit are louder than stock.

Would I get better results from the dual or from the single exhaust?

The single exit exhaust would gain more power, but not by much. The dual exit exhaust has more muffler packing which would quieten down the car further. Its more about what style of exhaust you like.
