If you own a 2013-2016 Dodge Dart with a 1.4L Turbo engine, or a 2012-2018 Fiat 500 with a 1.4 Turbo engine and want to adjust your boost levels, this is for you!

The wastegate actuator is what controls your boost levels with your turbo for the most part. There is a flap inside the turbo that is opened by the wastegate once your engine reaches the desired boost level. That flap opens and diverts exhaust gases away from the turbo to regulate boost pressure.

Now, the factory wastegate is not bad by any means, however the Forge wastegate actuator builds up boost faster, and allows for an adjustment of boost to your liking. Higher boost levels + faster build up of boost = you being happier! Btw- we recommend not going more than 1-2 psi higher than stock so the factory PCM is happy.

This actuator fits directly to the turbocharger casting. Therefore no additional brackets is required.

What strength spring does this come with? Other places mention some options on this.

  As of early 2017, Forge has begun shipping these WGAs with a 15 psi spring. This is the same spring rate as the yellow spring we used to have to add to this kit for use with the Fiat 500 & Dodge Dart.

What is the benefit of using this compared to just adjusting the oem wastegate preload to 6mm? That is what later models were adjusted to

  Preload is how much the wastegate is pulling on the wastegate flap. The oem wastegate is not as strong as the Forge, so what the Forge wastegate offers is a much better buildup of boost, and less boost bleed off compared to the oem wastegate.

I am installing it today. I plan on adjusting it to 2.5mm or 3 what do you guys at MP recommend?

  We recommend setting the preload so that the actuator pulls firmly on the wastegate flap. You'll have to drive it to see/feel how boost builds up after installation. If boost spikes too high initially, then the wastegate flap is staying closed too long. If boost builds up too slowly the wastegate flap needs to be closed more firmly.

Will this help with the whistle sound the 1.4 dart w CAI makes when in high revs with the stock wastegate?

  A wastegate actuator will not make noise, what this piece will do, is allow you to create boost faster, and have higher boost levels compared to the factory wastegate actuator.

Does the work still with the gfb blow off plate and diverter valve ?

  Yes, as long as you have the factory turbocharger, this will work with any and all parts you have. This will help build boost faster, and hold boost better instead of tapering off compared to the factory wastegate actuator.

  No, this is a wastegate actuator, it controls the boost level by controlling the wastegate flap. A purge valve, is also known as a diverter valve, and a diverter valve releases compressed air whenever you shift, or release the gas.

To my understanding the stock wastegate actuator handles up to 20 psi. Wouldn't this be considered a downgrade considering the yellow spring is only capable of 15 psi of boost?

  There are two things that regulate the boost pressure on the 1.4 Turbo. 1) The stock boost control solenoid 2) The wastegate actuator. Those two items work together to create the boost pressure map. Now you can have a 10 psi spring in a wastegate and still get 15-18 psi at the turbo if the boost control solenoid is strong enough. So, even though it sounds odd and doesnt make sense, you can have higher boost pressure than what the wastegate spring is labeled as.
